The European Language Certificates are an examination system based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe. It was developed and is managed by the non-profit organization WBT (Weiterbildungs-Testsysteme GmbH – later telc GmbH), a member of ALTE – the Association of European Organizations Awarding Internationally Recognized Language Certifications. Together with other prestigious organizations such as the Goethe Institute, University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, and Alliance Française, they set standards for the best language examinations in Europe.
We are increasingly realizing that Europe is a melting pot of diverse traditions and cultures, and languages are key to understanding them.
Diversity and comparability are the hallmarks of telc examinations, which are available for 10 European languages at six levels of language proficiency: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2.
Detailed information about telc examinations can be found on the website of the University of Lodz Languages and Certification Center.
